In the aeration stage of wastewater treatment systems, excessive and persistent foam is a common yet challenging issue. This foam not only affects visual appearance but also impedes oxygen transfer efficiency, leading to non-compliant treatment outcomes. It can even cause activated sludge to be carried away with the foam, directly increasing operational costs and subsequent processing burdens. Traditional physical defoaming methods often offer short-lived effects and high labor costs, while ordinary chemical defoamers may pose risks such as poor compatibility, unstable performance, or adverse effects on microbial activity.
Addressing these core pain points, Chemi Tech introduces a series of high-performance defoamers specifically designed for aeration tanks. Our solution is not merely product supply but a systematic technical service process. First, our technical team conducts an on-site visit to accurately diagnose the cause of the foam, including analyzing water composition, process parameters, and microbial status, thereby determining whether the foam is biological, chemical, or mechanical in origin.
Based on the diagnostic results, the second step is to tailor or recommend the most suitable defoamer formulation for the client. Chemi Tech defoamers utilize specially modified polyethers and silicone-based materials, possessing dual capabilities of rapid bubble-breaking and long-lasting foam suppression. Their characteristics include excellent compatibility with aqueous systems, quick dispersion, and broad-spectrum defoaming efficacy at low dosage rates. Moreover, they are non-toxic to the microbial communities in the aeration tank and do not interfere with the essential biochemical treatment processes.
The third step involves pilot and field verification. We provide samples for clients to test in simulated or actual process sections, ensuring optimal defoaming performance, dosing points, and dosage rates. This step also observes the defoamer's impact on the overall system operation to guarantee seamless integration.
We served an industrial park wastewater treatment plant using the activated sludge process. The plant's aeration tank was chronically covered with a thick layer of foam, causing inaccurate dissolved oxygen readings, increased energy consumption, and fluctuating effluent COD. Through our on-site analysis, we identified the foam as primarily caused by surfactants in the influent combined with some filamentous bacteria. We customized a compound defoamer with both antibacterial and foam-breaking functions for them and optimized the dosing point to the aeration tank inlet. After implementation, foam was significantly controlled within 24 hours, tank surface visibility was restored, dissolved oxygen regulation became precise, system operation stabilized, effluent quality was ensured, and sludge loss was virtually eliminated.
Choosing Chemi Tech means selecting a reliable, efficient, and worry-free partner for foam control. We are committed to helping users completely overcome foam troubles and enhance the overall operational efficiency and economic benefits of their wastewater treatment systems through professional products and in-depth technical services.
