Spray booth operations often generate substantial persistent foam in the circulating water systems. This foam not only compromises paint quality, leading to surface defects, but also overflows tanks, creating slippery and hazardous working conditions. Furthermore, foam buildup reduces pump efficiency and can even paralyze the wastewater treatment system, increasing maintenance costs and downtime risks.
Traditional physical defoaming methods are labor-intensive and offer only temporary relief. Conventional chemical defoamers frequently underperform in the complex wastewater environment rich in resins, solvents, and surfactants typical of spray booths. They often break down quickly, requiring frequent re-dosing, which leads to higher long-term costs.
Addressing this core issue, Chemi Tech has developed a specialized defoamer for spray booth wastewater. Utilizing advanced modified silicone-polyether compound technology, this product delivers powerful foam-breaking and foam-suppressing capabilities. Its key advantages are: First, it rapidly penetrates and destabilizes foam films, eliminating visible foam instantly. Second, it maintains chemical stability and provides long-lasting foam suppression even under harsh conditions of high temperature, high pH, and high organic load. Third, it exhibits excellent compatibility with spray booth wastewater without interfering with subsequent treatment processes.
Our application solution follows a four-step process: Step one, Site Assessment. Our engineers analyze foam causes, water characteristics, and system operating conditions. Step two, Lab/Pilot Test. A sample of the wastewater is tested with the defoamer to pinpoint the optimal dosing point and dosage. Step three, Standardized Dosing. Based on the plan, the defoamer is automatically fed continuously or intermittently via dosing pumps into the circulation line or collection sump, ensuring consistent and stable performance. Step four, Monitoring and Optimization. We track foam control effectiveness and fine-tune parameters based on production load variations to achieve optimal cost efficiency.
We implemented this solution for an automotive parts manufacturer. Their spray line wastewater suffered from severe foaming, necessitating daily manual cleanup of overflow and bi-weekly pump cleaning. After deploying our specialized defoamer and dosing system, foam receded rapidly within 15 minutes of initial dosing, and the recirculation water remained clear. The client achieved automated management, eliminating dedicated labor for foam handling. Pump cleaning intervals extended to over three months, significantly reducing overall maintenance costs and substantially improving the production environment.
Chemi Tech's spray booth wastewater defoamer, with its targeted formulation and reliable results, has helped numerous clients overcome foam-related challenges, enhancing operational smoothness and cost-effectiveness.
