In lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery manufacturing, slurry dispersion quality directly impacts battery capacity, cycle life, and consistency. Many enterprises face challenges such as rapid sedimentation, particle agglomeration, and viscosity fluctuations, leading to uneven coating, capacity degradation, and production line downtime.

Chemi Tech has developed KMK-12, a targeted dispersant for LFP slurry based on polymer interface chemistry principles. Its anchoring groups tightly bond with battery materials, while steric hindrance effectively prevents particle agglomeration, achieving long-term slurry stability (≥72 hours without sedimentation) and controlling viscosity fluctuations within 5%.
The solution involves four steps:
1. Evaluation & Matching: Analyze material properties and process parameters to recommend a 0.3%-0.8% dosage;
2. Pre-dispersion Treatment: Mix with solvent and apply high-speed shearing to form an activated dispersion liquid;
3. Stepwise Addition: Add to slurry in two stages during mixing to ensure uniform coating;
4. Viscosity Adjustment: Combine with leveling agents to achieve optimal coating range (typically 2500-4000 mPa·s).
A case study demonstrated that after using KMK-12, a battery enterprise improved slurry stability from 6 hours to 76 hours, reduced coating defects by 67%, and enhanced electrode capacity consistency to 98.5%. Production line downtime due to slurry issues decreased by 15 hours per month.
