When the control panel alarms in a waste treatment plant, operators found the leachate equalization tank shrouded with 60cm foam – causing false level readings and pump cavitation.
This reflects the universal challenge in leachate treatment: foam generated from humic acids, heavy metals and surfactants severely disrupts processes. Ordinary defoamers often fail due to poor salt tolerance or rapid reactivation.
