Microfoams in solvent inks during high-speed printing cause "pinholes" on substrates. A Jiangsu gravure ink manufacturer reduced waste rate from 12% to near zero using Chemi Tech KM-8006 (acrylate polymer defoamer):
>98% microfoam reduction: Foam layer thickness decreased from 15mm to 0.5mm at 0.3% dosage;
Press speed increased from 200 to 280 m/min;
Compatibility with NC/PU resins ensured no craters or floating.
With surface tension <24 mN/m, KM-8006 penetrates foam films rapidly. Its hydrophobic chains rupture bubbles while fumed silica synergistically bursts membranes.
Added 0.4% in PET film ink:
Defoaming time shortened from >120s to 25s;
Zero pinhole defects in prints;
Foam in solvent recovery system reduced by 70%.
