Dispersing titanium dioxide (TiO₂) in high-solids industrial coatings (NVV≥80%) often causes agglomeration due to surface energy differences, leading to hiding power loss, viscosity surge, and storage gelation. One anti-corrosion coating manufacturer reported 4500mPa·s viscosity in TiO₂ paste and 15% hiding power fluctuation with traditional dispersants.
KMT-4130 achieves three breakthroughs:
Phosphate groups form covalent bonds (≥150kJ/mol) with TiO₂ surface hydroxyls, replacing physical adsorption to prevent desorption during grinding.
Excellent solubility in xylene/MAK solvents, reducing viscosity by >60% (from 4500mPa·s to 1800mPa·s).
Maintains TiO₂ D50≤0.4μm after 30-day storage at 60°C.
At a container coating plant (85% NVV epoxy primer):
Dosage: 1.8% on TiO₂ weight added during grinding;
Grinding time shortened by 40%, hiding power improved to 98.5%;
Zero sedimentation after 60 days at 50°C, leveling enhanced (Ra≤0.15μm).
Deployed in marine and machinery coatings, compatible with solvent/water-based epoxy/PU.
