In the production, filling and application of waterborne paint, foam is a common and troublesome problem. Excessive foam not only reduces production efficiency and causes inaccurate filling, but also forms unacceptable defects on the surface of the final coating, such as craters, fish eyes, pinholes and uneven gloss, seriously affecting the appearance and protective performance of the product.
The market generally faces the dilemma of improper defoamer selection: the defoaming effect is not obvious after addition, or it is effective initially but fails after standing for a period of time; even worse, the defoamer itself may cause coating film craters, affect interlayer adhesion, and even produce side effects such as oil spots and turbidity. These pain points mean that simply adding a defoamer is not a fundamental solution, and a systematic solution is required.
To address these complex needs, Chemi Tech, drawing on its deep technical accumulation, has launched a series of high-performance waterborne paint defoamers. Our solution is not merely a single product, but a complete technical service system covering analysis, testing and application.
The specific solution steps are divided into four steps: the first step is problem diagnosis, in which our technical team learns in detail about your system formula, production process and the specific stages where foam occurs. The second step is sample matching, in which, based on the diagnosis results, we select 2-3 of the most suitable samples for laboratory evaluation from our library of defoamers developed for different systems (such as matte clear coats, high-pigment-content paints and high-viscosity systems). The third step is comprehensive testing, in which, under simulated actual production conditions, we evaluate the defoaming and foam-suppressing performance of the samples and focus on observing their long-term effects on the transparency, gloss, color and stability of the coating film. The fourth step is process optimization, in which we provide recommendations on the optimal dosing point, dosage and stirring conditions to ensure that the defoamer delivers maximum effectiveness in your system while remaining stable over the long term.
We once served a manufacturer specializing in high-quality wood coatings, whose products frequently showed tiny craters during customer application, leading to an increased rework rate. Through our on-site analysis and laboratory reproduction, we found that the problem stemmed from poor compatibility between the defoamer and the system, as well as an improper addition method during the high-speed dispersion stage. We replaced it with a silicone-modified polymer defoamer and recommended adjusting the addition sequence to the later stage of grinding. After the adjustment, the foam was effectively controlled, the coating film surface became smooth and flat, the crater problem was completely solved, and customer satisfaction improved significantly.
Choosing Chemi Tech, you gain not only efficient defoamer products, but also a firm guarantee of coating quality. We are committed to overcoming technical challenges together with you, so that every coating is flawless.
