On the metalworking shop floor, cutting fluid foam is often overlooked yet hides real risks. Foam accumulation obstructs coolant circulation, reduces workpiece surface finish, accelerates tool wear and can even promote microbial growth, forcing the cutting fluid to be scrapped early. One machine stopped for repair because of foam overflow can cost thousands of yuan in a single incident, while frequent cutting fluid replacement makes costs even harder to control.

Addressing this pain point, Chemi Tech introduced a dedicated cutting fluid antifoam. Using a silicone and polyether compound technology, the product remains stable under high-speed agitation or high-pressure spraying; after addition, the foam disappears completely within 30 seconds, and foam inhibition lasts more than 8 hours. This means the workshop no longer needs frequent antifoam top-ups, making the operator job easier.

Step one: on-site assessment. Take a 500 ml sample of the cutting fluid in use and record the foam height and dissipation time. The Chemi Tech technical team recommends the initial dosage based on water quality and machining parameters, usually 0.1%-0.3% of the total cutting fluid volume.

Step two: add in portions. Dilute the antifoam with clean water at a ratio of 1:10 and inject it slowly at the outlet of the circulation pump, avoiding excessive local concentration that could cause demulsification. Observe the foam after stirring for 15 minutes; if any foam remains, add a further dose of 0.05%.

Step three: continuous monitoring. Check the cutting fluid foam height and pH value once a week, and when the foam rebounds, top up with half the original dose. Chemi Tech also provides regular sampling and analysis services to help customers optimize the dosing frequency.

A precision bearing machining plant used to replace its cutting fluid 4 times a month because of foam, consuming 2,000 liters each time. After using Chemi Tech antifoam, the foam problem was completely solved and the cutting fluid replacement cycle was extended to once a month, saving about 12,000 yuan a month in cutting fluid cost, while equipment downtime fell by 80% and waste oil disposal costs dropped by 60%. The technical supervisor of the plant reported that they now only need to focus on machining parameters, and foam is no longer a problem.

Choosing Chemi Tech means trading a controllable cost for a stable machining environment. Whether on CNC lathes, grinding machines or high-pressure stamping lines, our antifoam adapts seamlessly. Contact our technical team for a free sample and let your cutting fluid return to a clean state.
