In the production and application of waterborne coatings, foam has always been a core challenge troubling many manufacturers. Excess foam not only reduces production and filling efficiency but also forms unacceptable defects such as pinholes, cratering, or fish eyes on the coating surface, seriously affecting the final appearance and protective performance of the product.

A common pain point in the market is that many defoamers either have an insufficient initial foam-inhibiting effect and cannot cope with the violent foaming in the high-speed dispersion stage, or have poor compatibility and cause secondary problems such as cratering and uneven gloss during coating storage or film formation. Achieving durable and efficient defoaming and foam inhibition without affecting the stability of the coating system is the key to enhancing product competitiveness.

In response to this series of needs, Chemi Tech's R&D team provides a systematic solution. Our waterborne coating defoamer, through a special molecular structure design, combines rapid foam-breaking ability with long-lasting foam-inhibiting performance. The solution is specifically divided into three steps: the first step is precise model selection, recommending the most suitable defoamer type according to the resin type, pH value, and application method (such as roller coating or spraying) of the customer's coating system; the second step is determining the optimal addition point and dosage, and we recommend adding most of the defoamer during the grinding and dispersion stage of production to inhibit initial foam and a small amount during the let-down stage to optimize long-term performance; the third step is conducting a comprehensive compatibility and performance evaluation to ensure that the defoamer, while effectively eliminating foam, does not negatively affect key indicators such as interlayer adhesion and water resistance.

We once worked with a manufacturer specializing in industrial anti-corrosion coatings. After trying several defoamers, the customer still faced the problem of tiny hidden bubbles in the paint film after spraying. After our technical team analyzed its formulation, we recommended a silicone-modified defoamer with excellent compatibility and optimized the addition process. After the adjustment, the foam volume of the customer's coating during high-speed dispersion was reduced by about 70%, the paint film surface after spraying became smooth and flat, the hidden bubble problem was completely eliminated, and both the gloss and anti-corrosion performance of the coating reached the expected standards, earning positive feedback from end users.

Choosing Chemi Tech means choosing a reliable path to problem solving. Our products and technical support are designed to help you control foam at its root, so that your waterborne coatings can deliver more outstanding surface results and stable quality.
