In many industrial decarbonization processes, excessive foam generation is a common yet troublesome challenge. This foam not only reduces the effective volume of the reactor or absorption tower, causing a significant drop in treatment efficiency, but may also trigger liquid entrainment, resulting in material loss and reduced product purity, and even, through overflow, production interruptions and equipment operation risks. Traditional general-purpose defoamers are often unable to adapt to the specific chemical environment and temperature and pressure conditions of decarbonization systems, showing slow defoaming speeds, poor durability of foam suppression, or poor compatibility with the system, which may instead affect the stable operation of the main process.
In response to these core pain points, Chemi Tech has devoted itself to developing a series of dedicated decarbonization defoamers. Our solution is not simply adding an additive, but is based on a deep understanding of the chemical properties of decarbonization process fluids. The product uses specially modified polysiloxanes and composite technology, with the ability to quickly penetrate, spread, and break foam, while forming a stable barrier at the gas-liquid interface to suppress foam regeneration at the source. Its design ensures that even under complex working conditions such as alkaline or acidic absorption liquids, relatively high temperatures, and the presence of solid particles, it still maintains excellent chemical inertness and defoaming and foam-suppression performance, without negatively affecting decarbonization efficiency and downstream processes.
The specific application steps are clear and well defined: first, our technical team conducts a detailed diagnosis of the customer's specific decarbonization process, the composition of the foaming medium, and the operating parameters. Then, through laboratory simulation screening, we provide the best-matching defoamer model and recommended dosage. Typical dosing points can be selected at key positions such as the inlet of the lean solution pump, the circulating liquid line of the absorption tower, or the rich solution tank, with precise and continuous dosing achieved through a metering pump. During the initial dosing stage, it is recommended to use a slightly higher concentration than the recommended one to quickly establish an effective concentration in the system. Once the foam is under control, it can be reduced to a very low maintenance dose, achieving economical and efficient long-term operation.
We once helped an energy company solve a serious foam problem in the amine solution system of its carbon capture demonstration unit. After the load was increased, the unit frequently experienced tray flooding, and its treatment capacity was limited. Following Chemi Tech's technical analysis, a customized high-temperature amine solution defoamer was recommended. After injection before the lean solution pump according to the plan, the foam was effectively controlled within a few hours, the tower pressure drop returned to normal, and the system's treatment capacity increased by about 18%. Moreover, the defoamer consumption was far lower than that of the product the customer had previously used, achieving the dual goals of stable operation and cost savings.
Choosing Chemi Tech means you gain not only a highly efficient defoamer product, but also a complete foam management solution for decarbonization processes. We are committed to using professional technology and services to clear away foam obstacles in your decarbonization process and ensure efficient, stable, and economical system operation.
