In the production, filling, and application of waterborne coatings, foam has always been a core challenge troubling many manufacturers. These stubborn foams not only affect production efficiency and the appearance of the filled containers, but also cause defects such as cratering and fish eyes on the paint film surface, directly affecting the final aesthetics and protective performance of the coating. Traditional defoaming methods are often ineffective, or they introduce new compatibility or foam-stabilizing problems.

In response to these market pain points, Chemi Tech, drawing on professional R&D, has launched a series of highly efficient waterborne coating defoamers. Our solution is based on a deep understanding of the foam generation mechanism: during the high-shear mixing stage of coating production, we recommend a powerful foam-breaking defoamer that quickly penetrates the foam lamella to achieve rapid defoaming; during the storage and application stages of the coating, we use a long-lasting foam-inhibiting product that remains stable in the system and prevents foam from regenerating over the long term.

The specific application steps are clear and simple. First, add 60%-70% of the total defoamer amount during the early grinding and dispersion stage of production to inhibit foam generation at the source. Second, add the remaining 30%-40% during the let-down stage to ensure the final balance of defoaming and foam inhibition in the system. After addition, sufficient dispersion time must be ensured; it is usually recommended to disperse for 10-15 minutes under medium shear so that the defoamer is evenly distributed and fully effective.

We once helped a customer specializing in industrial protective coatings solve their problem. The customer experienced severe foam overflow during the high-speed dispersion process, and the finished coating produced a large number of micro bubbles during roller coating. Through analysis by our technical team, we customized a composite defoaming solution: a silicone-modified defoamer was used in the grinding stage, and a mineral-oil-based defoamer was compounded in the let-down stage. After the adjustment, the production process became smooth and stable, the foam overflow problem was completely solved, and the resulting paint film was flat and smooth. The customer highly recognized the product quality.

Choosing Chemi Tech means choosing a full-process foam control solution from source to end product. Our products are not only efficient but also focus on long-term compatibility with the system to avoid surface defects, making us a reliable partner for enhancing the overall competitiveness of your waterborne coatings.
