PP plastics and nylon (surface energy <30 mN/m) challenge waterborne coatings due to poor wetting. Chemi Tech’s phosphate-siloxane hybrid agent overcomes this with:
Phosphate groups form hydrogen bonds with nylon’s amide groups;
Short-chain siloxanes migrate to interfaces within 3 seconds, boosting substrate wetting tension >40 mN/m6. For nylon fan blades, 0.5% addition increased coating coverage by 50% and reduced edge shrinkage from 15% to 2%.
In automotive lamp cover spraying (line speed: 3.5 m/min):
Shear-stable molecular chains resist pump degradation;
Millisecond-level tension reduction ensures uniform coverage on complex curves.
Cratering occurred on waterborne acrylic-coated bumpers due to mold release agents:
Unlike fluorosurfactants, Chemi Tech’s agent maintains intercoat adhesion. For ABS tool housings with primer/topcoat systems (0.2% addition):
Adhesion remained 5B (KMP-1250);
Zero topcoat craters and no delamination.
