In the production, polymerization, and subsequent processing of acrylic acid and its resins, foam generation is a common and thorny problem. Excess foam not only reduces the effective volume of the reactor, lowering production efficiency, but may also cause material overflow, increase losses, and even affect key properties of the final product such as gloss, uniformity, and adhesion. Traditional defoaming methods are often short-lived or may introduce impurities that affect product stability.

In response to these industry pain points, Chemi Tech, drawing on deep surface chemistry experience, has developed a series of high-performance defoamers specifically for acrylic acid. Our solution is not a simple addition but is based on an in-depth understanding of the foam generation mechanism. Foam in acrylic acid systems is usually produced by monomer volatilization, gas entrained by stirring, and side reactions, and is characterized by high stability and easy regeneration. Chemi Tech defoamers, through carefully selected modified polysiloxanes and special organic compounds, achieve a balance of rapid penetration, efficient spreading, and long-lasting foam inhibition.

The specific solution and operating steps are as follows: first, diagnose the foam system and, based on the production process temperature, pH value, and main foaming substances, recommend the most suitable defoamer model, such as Chemi Tech AF-301 (suitable for medium- and high-temperature polymerization systems) or AF-302 (suitable for post-processing and waterborne systems). Second, provide precise guidance on the addition point and dosage; it is usually added at the early stage of polymerization or before the stage prone to foaming, with a recommended dosage of 0.05%-0.3% of the total material. Finally, we emphasize the importance of pre-dispersion, guiding the customer to pre-dilute the defoamer evenly with an appropriate amount of system solvent or material to ensure it can be quickly and evenly dispersed throughout the system for maximum effectiveness.

We once helped a synthetic materials manufacturer in East China solve the foam problem in its acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive production. The company continuously encountered foam in the coating process, causing pinhole defects in the adhesive film. After analysis by our technical team, we recommended the AF-302 defoamer, added at a dosage of 0.1% in the later stage of the batching process. After implementation, the foam in the production process was controlled immediately and durably, the adhesive film surface became smooth and flat, and the product qualification rate rose significantly, while problems of workshop environment and material waste caused by foam overflow were avoided. The customer highly recognized the durability of the defoaming effect and the fact that it did not affect product transparency.

Choosing Chemi Tech means you get not only a highly efficient defoamer product but also a set of professional technical support from problem analysis to continuous optimization. We are committed to helping customers achieve smooth, efficient, and high-quality output in their production processes.
